About Doon International School – Education in Jammu
Doon International School is out in Chowadi, near Sainik Colony in Jammu. The area is a bit quieter than the middle of the city, which we like. We have a pretty large campus with some open ground where the dust tends to settle when it’s dry. The morning starts early here with the buses arriving from different parts of the colony. We have several buildings for the different grades. It’s a lot to manage, but we have a rhythm down. The teachers come in and get their chalk and registers ready before the first bell. We don't have a big team of PR people writing fancy stuff for us. We are just a group of educators and support staff. We spend a lot of time making sure the water coolers are filled, especially during those hot Jammu summers. The children spend their breaks playing outside, and it gets quite loud for a while. We have some trees planted along the fence line, but they are still growing. The classrooms are simple with posters on the walls that the kids made themselves. We just focus on the daily schedule and making sure the lessons are covered. It’s a long day for everyone, but we’ve been doing this for a while. Parents often stop by the gate to chat with the guards or the staff. It’s a very local, community-focused kind of place.
