Shri Shyam Tilpatti Udyog

Our place is located in Sodala, right near the Shri Shyam Mandir in Ram Nagar. If you walk past, you can usually smell the sugar and sesame being worked on. We make tilpatti here, and it's a messy process with all the sticky ingredients. The shop isn't very large, and the back area where we do the actual cooking gets pretty hot, especially in the summer months. We use old-style methods, mostly because that’s how we learned to do it. There are usually a few of us sitting around on stools, sorting through seeds or packing the finished pieces into plastic bags. Being so close to the temple means there are always people walking by, and we hear the bells ringing throughout the day. It’s a nice sound to work to. We don’t have a big fancy storefront with neon lights. It’s just a simple building where we do our work. The floors are a bit uneven and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s home to us. We’ve been in Ram Nagar for a long time now. People know us as the tilpatti spot near the mandir. We just focus on making the sweets and getting them out to the local markets. It’s a simple life, and we like keeping things the way they’ve always been around here.
