You can find Gulab Chand Jagdish Narain right by the Jorawar Singh Gate on Amer Road. It’s an old part of the city and our shop has been part of it for a long time. The name comes from the family elders. We deal in various traditional items and local goods that people in this area look for. Being near the gate means there is always a lot of movement. Tourists walk by, and locals are always going about their chores. The shop itself has high ceilings and old wooden shelves. We haven't changed much over the years because the old way works fine for us. We keep things stacked up, and sometimes you have to move three things to find the one you want. It’s a bit of a maze inside. We talk to everyone who comes in, whether they are buying something or just asking for directions. The stones on the floor are worn down from years of feet walking over them. We don't have air conditioning, just a few old fans that hum all day. In the summers it gets hot, but we stay open. It’s a regular business where we know our neighbors and their families. We don’t use any complicated systems for our sales, just a pen and a notebook usually. It’s just the way we’ve always done it here at Amer Road near the historic gate.
