Govind Halwai Feeni Wala is at 280 in Chand Pole Bazar. This part of Jaipur is always moving and we are right in the thick of it. We are mostly known for feeni, especially when the season is right and everyone is looking for it. Making it is a tough job because you have to deal with a lot of heat and sugar for hours on end. The shop is old and the walls have seen a lot of seasons come and go. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the large vats. In the mornings, the bazar is a bit quiet, but by midday, it is hard to even hear yourself talk over the noise outside. We keep our displays simple and let the sweets speak for themselves. You won't find any glossy brochures or complicated menus here. We just have what we have made fresh that day. Sometimes we run out of things earlier than expected because a big group comes in. Being on Chand Pole Bazar means we see everyone from tourists to locals who have lived here for sixty years. It is a grounded place to work. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We are just halwais doing our daily work at address 280, making sure the feeni is shredded right and the syrup is the correct thickness.
