Madho Das Sohan Das Rajoria

The name Madho Das Sohan Das Rajoria is a bit long, but that is what is on the sign at 6 Purohit Ji Ka Katla. We are tucked away in Johari Bazar, which is always a whirlwind of activity. Working in the Katla means dealing with narrow lanes and a lot of history. It is not the kind of place where you find glass buildings or quiet hallways. Instead, it is full of the sounds of the market. We have been here for a good amount of time. Every morning, we make our way through the crowd to get to number 6. The shop itself is practical. We have things stacked where they fit, and we know exactly where everything is, even if it looks a bit messy to someone else. It is a family-style environment here. We don't use big words to describe ourselves. We are just people working in a famous market. Sometimes it’s exhausting because of the heat and the constant noise, but you get used to it after a few years. We see a lot of different faces every day. Some are regulars, others are just lost in the bazar. We don’t have a mission statement or anything like that. We just focus on the day’s work and try to get home on time. It is a modest life in a very busy part of town. That is the reality of being in Purohit Ji Ka Katla.
