Kanhaiya Lal Halwai

Kanhaiya Lal Halwai is on Sanganer Road in Sanganer. It’s a busy road with a lot of traffic and people going back and forth all day. We’ve been at this for a long time now. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a typical halwai shop with big iron kadhais out front. You can usually see the steam and smell the frying from down the street. We start work when most people are still asleep. Making the dough, heating the oil, and getting the syrup ready is a daily ritual for us. Our hands are always a bit rough from the constant work. It’s not a clean office job by any means. There is soot on the walls and the floor gets greasy, no matter how much we sweep and scrub at the end of the day. We don’t have a website or a fancy menu. People just come in and point at what they want in the display. Most of our customers have been coming here for years. We know their families and what they usually buy on a Sunday morning. It’s a simple life, really. We make the snacks, we sell them, and we go home to rest. Some days we run out of things early, and other days we have leftovers to deal with. That’s just the way it goes. We aren't trying to change the world. We’re just Kanhaiya Lal Halwai on Sanganer Road, doing what we’ve always done.
