Dwarka Sweet Shops

We are located at Akhepura 1/631, and our day starts long before the sun even comes up. Dwarka Sweet Shops is basically built around the big iron vats we use to boil milk. There is a lot of steam and the smell of sugar is always in the air. We spend hours stirring the pots so the milk doesn't burn at the bottom. It’s heavy work and your arms get tired after a while. We don't have fancy machines to do everything for us, so a lot of it is done by hand. The trays of sweets get lined up on the shelves as they cool down. We have been in Akhepura for some time now and we know most of the people who walk through the door. They come in for a box of something to take to a party or just a small piece for themselves. We try to keep the glass cases clean, but kids are always putting their sticky fingers on them. It’s a bit of a battle. Some days we make more than others, especially when there is a festival coming up. Then we barely sleep at all. It’s a messy business with flour and ghee everywhere, but we like the routine of it. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We are just a sweet shop doing what we have always done.
