The Howrah Hotel

You’ll find us at 1 M.K. Road, which is practically right next to the Howrah Railway Station. Being so close to the station means there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the trains pulling in and the whistles blowing all day and night. The Howrah Hotel is an old building, and it has that specific smell of old wood and city air. We spend a lot of time at the front desk checking people in who have just hopped off a long train ride. They usually look pretty tired, so we try to get them their keys as fast as possible without too much fuss. The lobby has these high ceilings and a lot of history, though it’s seen better days. We don't have all those modern gadgets you see in the big chains, but the beds are clean and the fans work. The staff here has been around for a long time, some for decades. We know all the best places nearby to get a quick meal or where to catch the right bus. It’s a busy life on M.K. Road with the taxis honking and people rushing by the front door constantly. We just keep things moving, making sure the rooms are ready for the next traveler. It's a bit of a scramble sometimes when a big train arrives, but we’ve got our system down by now. We just provide a place to rest for anyone passing through the city.
