Hotel Ahsas

It can be a bit of a trek to get out here to Santra Gachi sometimes, but Curry Road has its own steady rhythm that we have grown used to. Our place is at 141/10, right in the thick of things in the Howrah district. The building itself is older, and you can really tell it has seen a lot of different people come and go over the long years. We spend our mornings mostly cleaning up the lobby area and checking the guest registers to see who is staying. It is often dusty work because there is always some kind of construction or heavy traffic nearby. The train station is not too far away, so we get many travelers who look very tired by the time they finally reach our front door. We try to keep the ceiling fans running whenever it is humid, which feels like almost all the time in this part of the country. There is no big corporate team sitting in an office somewhere behind us; it is just a few of us making sure the bed sheets are clean and the door locks work like they should. Sometimes the power goes out in the whole district, and we have to go out and mess with the generator, which is always a bit finicky and loud. Life in Howrah is busy and often quite loud, and our hotel is just one small part of that whole scene. We just keep doing our work every day.
