Appayan Hotel Cum Restaurant

Our place is located at Tentul Talla in Howrah. It’s a combined hotel and restaurant, so we see a lot of people passing through. Some stay for a night or two, others just stop for a quick lunch. It’s been here for a bit now. We aren't one of those flashy hotels you see in the magazines. It’s just a regular building where you can get a bed and a decent meal. The kitchen stays busy most of the day because travelers are always hungry. We keep things pretty basic. The rooms are plain but we try to keep them clean for whoever is coming in. My uncle used to run things, but now we all pitch in. Howrah can be a loud place, but Tentul Talla has its own rhythm. We get the morning crowd looking for tea and breakfast, then the lunch rush, and it repeats. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. We just open the doors and see who shows up. The food is what you’d expect from a local spot—lots of rice, dal, and whatever is in season. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or we run out of something, but we fix it and move on. It’s just a honest way to make a living. We appreciate the regulars who come back every time they are in the area. It’s not much, but it’s ours and we work hard at it.
