Pal Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Basti, specifically at Lalganj. We are care of Lal Mohan Pal at house number 01. It is a small place, very much a part of the local basti. In this part of Uttar Pradesh, everyone knows everyone. We started this because we wanted a way for the local farmers to work together. It is not a big corporate thing; it is just us, the Pals and the neighbors. We spend a lot of time at Lal Mohan’s place discussing what to plant or how to sell what we’ve grown. It is a very hands-on job. You’ll often find us drinking tea and looking over some paperwork that needs to be filed at the 272171 post office. There is no air conditioning here, just the breeze if we are lucky. We don't have any high-tech gadgets, just some old desks and a lot of grit. It is about making sure the people in Lalganj get a fair shake. We deal with the daily struggles of farming, like pests or bad rain. It is a simple life but it keeps us busy. We are proud of being from Basti and doing this work right here in our own backyard. It is just regular people trying to make a living from the land.
