You can find us at Jayant G Dukle’s house, which is number 949 in Krantinagar. It’s up in Alto-Betim, so the air is a bit better than down in the main town. Being in Bardez, we are away from the tourist crowds, which is nice for focusing on work. The office is basically part of a house, so it has a very personal feel to it. We deal with pharmaceutical stuff, so there are always records and samples around. It’s not a giant factory with chimneys; it’s more of an administrative and storage spot for us. The desks are a bit cluttered with papers and pens. We don’t have a fancy coffee machine, just a kettle in the corner for making tea. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids are playing outside and you can hear them while you’re on the phone. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know the postman by name, and he knows exactly where to leave the mail. The climb up to Alto-Betim can be a bit steep if you are walking, but the view is decent. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big glass buildings. We just keep our logs updated and make sure the medicine supplies are moving through the right channels. It’s a quiet life here, and we like it that way. No one wears fancy shoes, just slippers mostly while we handle the daily paperwork.
