Working out here at the Varca Beach location is quite different than being in a regular city office. We are located at Survey No. 176/1. The sand seems to get everywhere, even into the lobby sometimes when the wind picks up off the ocean. This is where we run the holiday operations for the resort. It is a big property, and there is always something that needs to be fixed or cleaned. Whether it is a leaky pipe in one of the guest rooms or the grass needing a quick trim, the work never really stops for us. We see families coming in all the time, mostly looking for a break from their normal lives. Most of us who work here have been doing this for a long time. We know the routines of the resort inside and out. It is not exactly like the glossy pictures you see in the travel magazines; it is a lot of hard work behind the scenes to keep things moving. We spend our days managing the bookings and making sure the kitchen has everything it needs for the next meal. The Varca area is much quieter compared to the north part of the state, which is nice for a change. Sometimes after a long shift, you can actually hear the waves if you stand still long enough. We do not have fancy titles that mean much to us; we just do whatever needs doing.
