Syndicate Bank

Syndicate Bank here in Nagarcem is a pretty traditional kind of place. We are located in the Canacona part of Goa, which is way down south and much more relaxed than the northern parts. Our assistant manager, Y B Hanumesh, and the rest of us spend the day dealing with the local community. We have farmers coming in, small shop owners, and families who have banked with us for a long time. It isn't a high-pressure corporate environment. We still use a lot of paper ledgers alongside the computers, and things can take a bit of time if the internet connection is being stubborn. The building isn't anything special to look at, but it’s a reliable spot for everyone in the neighborhood. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about their savings or helping them fill out forms that seem too complicated. During the summer, it gets incredibly hot, so we have fans blowing all over the place to keep everyone from melting. We know the people here, we know their families, and we know who is coming in on market day. It’s just a steady, local bank branch where we try to be helpful and keep the accounts in order. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything; we just open the doors at 403702 and do our best for the people of Nagarcem.
