Yayans Agro Private Limited

Yayans Agro is based in Giridih, over in the Sabalpur area of Sariya. We operate out of the home of Sato Devi and Basudev Mahto. It’s a local place where everyone knows everyone else. We started this agro company because we wanted to do something for the farmers in this part of Giridih. It’s not an easy life being a farmer here, especially with the prices going up for everything we need to grow our food. At the house in Sabalpur, we have a small space where we do our business. It’s mostly just us talking to neighbors and trying to figure out how to sell our stuff together so we don’t get cheated. We don't have any big fancy equipment or a huge warehouse yet. It is just a group of us putting our heads together. Sometimes we sit out front and talk to whoever walks by about the latest news in the village. It’s a slow process building something like this from the ground up, and we make mistakes along the way. Sometimes the paperwork gets confusing or we miss a deadline, but we’re learning. We are just local people trying to make a go of it in the agro business without having to move away to the big cities for work. It’s our home and our livelihood.
