Royal International School

Royal International School is situated right along National Highway 47, near Nehru Nagar in the Komarapalayam area of Erode. Being on the main road means there is always a bit of noise from the trucks and cars passing by, but we have a decent wall that helps a bit. The school is a familiar sight for people traveling between Salem and Erode. It is quite a large space, and we spend a lot of time just keeping up with the maintenance of the grounds. The sun really beats down on this part of Tamil Nadu, so the shade from the trees is always welcome during the lunch hour. We have students who travel from quite far away to get here every morning. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and tea cups, which is just how it goes when everyone is busy. We do not go in for much talk about being special or anything, we just want the kids to finish their lessons and go home safe. The playground sees a lot of action, and the dust usually picks up when the wind blows across the highway. It is a practical place, built to do a specific job. Most of us have been working here for years and we know the families in the surrounding villages quite well. There is always a lot to do, and we just keep moving through the school year one day at a time.
