Kongu Vellalar Matric Higher Secondary School

Our school is located in Anna Nagar, which is part of the Mettu Palaiyam area in Vellakoil. It is a typical Erode district setting where things move at a steady pace. We have a lot of students coming in from the surrounding villages as well as the local town. The school day starts quite early because of the afternoon heat in this part of the country. We spend a lot of time on the basics, making sure the younger kids can read and write properly before we move them onto the harder subjects. The higher secondary years are always the busiest for us because of the public exams. We have many meetings with parents about those results. The building is large enough, with long corridors that echo a bit when the classes are empty. We have a small garden area that we try to keep green, though it is tough during the peak summer months when water is scarce. The staff has been working here a long time, so we know most of the families in the area quite well. Sometimes we have to fix a broken desk or replace a blackboard that has seen better days. It is just regular upkeep for a school of this size. We do not have a lot of big events, just the usual sports day and some small annual functions for the kids.
