Our facility is located at 3B in the Ambunad Malaidumthuruthu area of Cochin. It’s an interesting place to work because of the smells. Depending on what we are working on that day, it might smell like vanilla or maybe something much stronger. Akay Flavours & Aromatics Pvt. Ltd. deals with a lot of different extracts and things that go into food. We have some labs and a lot of containers. It isn’t always quiet here; there’s usually some kind of machinery humming in the background. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the batches. If something isn't right, it has to be done over. The weather in Cochin is usually humid, so we have to be careful about how things are stored. It’s a lot of science, but it’s also just practical work. We’ve got a team that’s been here for years. We aren't a corporate office with people in ties. Most of us wear lab coats or work gear. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late because of the traffic near the port, and we have to stay a bit longer to get everything sorted. It is just a regular day-to-day operation where we try to keep the quality steady. People rely on these flavors, so we take the mixing part seriously even if we’re just regular folks doing it. We just focus on the task at hand and move on to the next one.
