We are based at 3/201 in the Karakutty house, over in Mattumurikkal. It’s a local setup, very much a part of the neighborhood here. Since we deal with foods and beverages, our kitchen area is always busy. There is usually something simmering or being bottled. It’s not a giant factory with machines doing everything. A lot of what we do involves our own hands and simple tools. We spend a lot of time checking the ingredients that come in from nearby farms. If the fruit isn't right, the drink won't be either. We keep things pretty basic. The house has been in the family for a while, and we just use the space we have to run the business. It gets a bit crowded when we have a big order to fill, but we manage. You’ll often find someone sitting on the porch taking a break or checking a list. We don't have a big sign with flashing lights. Most people just know the Karakutty house and what we do there. The days are long, especially when the harvest is in. We just try to keep the quality decent and the customers happy. It’s hard work, but it feels good to see the finished bottles lined up on the shelf. We aren’t trying to change the world. We’re just making food and drinks for people who want them. It is a quiet life in Mattumurikkal and we like keeping things that way.
