Maxford Books

You can find Maxford Books over on Ansari Road in Darya Ganj. We are actually on the second floor of building No.4264/3, so you have to walk up some stairs to get to us. Darya Ganj is a place that everyone knows for books, and we are just one small part of that whole scene. Being on the second floor means it’s a bit quieter than the street level, but you can still hear the horns and the people shouting down on Minto Road. The space is filled with boxes and stacks of books. It’s not the most organized place in the world, to be honest. We move things around a lot to make room for new arrivals. The light comes in through the windows and hits the dusty covers of the older stock. It’s a working office and shop, so there’s usually someone typing or packing a box in the corner. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who climb the stairs to see what we have. It’s a bit of a trek up here, but people who know about us don’t seem to mind. We have been in this spot for a while, and the walls are covered in old posters and notes. It’s just a regular Darya Ganj business, nothing fancy or polished about it. We just keep doing our thing day after day, making sure the orders go out and the shelves stay full enough for visitors.
