Indo American Books

We are set up on the ground floor at 2261, Hudson Lines. It’s right in the Kingsway Camp area, close to the Police Lines and Civil Lines. Being on the ground floor is lucky because we don’t have to lug heavy boxes of books up any stairs for Indo American Books. The space is filled with books from floor to ceiling, and sometimes it feels like the shelves might give way, but they hold up. We’ve been in this spot for a good while, and the students from the nearby colleges are our main visitors. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the stacks, but we usually know where everything is hiding. The lighting isn't the brightest, but it works for reading the titles on the spines. We spend most of our time answering questions and checking the inventory. It’s not a shiny new store; it has that old book smell that some people really like. We don't do much in the way of fancy events or promotions. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the day to start. The area can get a bit congested with traffic, but it’s a lively place to be. We just focus on keeping the shop running and making sure we have what the local readers are looking for. It’s a simple life and we like it that way, just keeping things steady.
