Goyal Publishing House

If you know Darya Ganj, you know Plot No. 5 on Ansari Road. It’s right in the middle of everything. Goyal Publishing House is one of many in this area, but we’ve been around long enough that most people recognize us. It’s a busy place. There are always boxes of books being moved around and delivery vans trying to find space to park. Our building is a bit older, like most things in Darya Ganj. It has character, I guess you could say. We focus on getting books out to readers and schools. It’s not a glamorous job. There’s a lot of sitting at desks and checking through manuscripts or talking to printers on the phone. The noise from Ansari Road never really stops, so we just work through it. We aren't trying to be the biggest publisher out there. We just do what we know how to do. The rooms are filled with stacks of paper and the smell of old glue. On Sundays, the whole street changes with the book market, but during the week, it’s just us and the other businesses working hard. We’ve got a small crew here. Everyone knows their job and we get on with it. It’s a practical kind of place. No fancy lobby or anything, just a workspace. We drink a lot of tea and try to keep up with the orders. That’s about it for us.
