Madras Hotel The Dosa Cafe

We've been here on Laxman Jhula Road for a while now. Most people find us because we're right near the Andhra Ashram. It's a busy spot in Rishikesh with a lot of foot traffic. We focus on dosas and South Indian food because that’s what we know how to do. Sometimes it gets quite loud with the traffic outside, but the kitchen keeps moving regardless. We open early most days. The seats aren't fancy, just plain chairs and tables for people who want a quick meal before heading to the river or the temples. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a big staff, so sometimes things take a minute if we're full. People stop by after walking across the bridge. It’s mostly travelers and locals looking for a hot plate of food. We try to keep the place tidy, though the dust from the road is a constant battle for us. The menu is mostly what you'd expect from a cafe like this. Nothing too complicated or hard to understand. We’ve got the usual stuff like idlies and vadas too. It’s just us doing our thing every day. If you’re walking toward the ashram, you’ll see our sign. We keep the water jars filled and the floors swept. It's a basic place to sit down and eat something warm. That’s really all there is to it. We don't spend much time on decorations. Most folks come in, eat their dosa, and get on with their day. It works for us.
