Hotel Surya Kiran

Being right on The Mall, Hotel Surya Kiran gets all kinds of people walking through the doors. It’s a busy spot, especially during the peak season when everyone wants to be near the center of things. We spend a lot of our time checking people in and out, and sometimes the lobby gets a bit crowded. It’s an old building, so it has its little issues, like a creaky floorboard here or a window that sticks there. We try to keep up with the cleaning, but with the dust from the street, it’s a constant battle. The staff here has been around for years, so we know all the local shortcuts and where to get the best supplies. We aren't one of those five-star places with gold-plated everything. It’s more of a practical place to stay while you’re visiting. We do a lot of laundry, and you can usually see the sheets drying on the roof if the sun is out. Sometimes the internet is slow, and we have to explain that to the younger guests who can't live without it. We just try to be helpful. If someone needs a recommendation for a place to eat or a taxi, we know who to call. It’s a simple life running a hotel. You meet a lot of travelers, hear their stories for a night or two, and then they move on. We just make sure the beds are made and the tea is hot in the morning. That is how we have always done it.
