Hotel Shahenshah

Hotel Shahenshah is located at 74 C Rajpur Road. This road is one of the main ones here, so we get a lot of people passing by. The trees along the road are nice, but the traffic has definitely increased over the years. We’ve got a small building here that we’ve been running for quite some time. It’s not a large hotel with hundreds of rooms, just a modest place. Most mornings we are out front sweeping the pavement. The weather here is usually better than the plains, but it still gets chilly in the winter. We don’t have central heating, so we give out extra blankets when it's cold. The rooms are plain and we try to keep the walls painted every few years. It’s just a few of us working here, doing the laundry and answering the phone. We don't have any fancy room service, but we can tell you where the good dhabas are nearby. People come here because it’s a convenient spot on Rajpur Road. We try to be helpful without being in the way. Sometimes the water pressure is a bit low, but we usually fix it quickly. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of business. We don't use any big words to describe it, it's just a place to stay while you're in town. We keep the registers updated and make sure the lights are on for anyone arriving late.
