Our place is up on Gun Hill, at the Rockcliff Estate. If you’ve ever been up this way, you know the climb is something else. We spend our days managing the property here in Mussoorie. It’s a different kind of life up here compared to the plains. We deal with the weather a lot—sometimes it’s foggy, sometimes it’s perfectly clear. Our main job is looking after the rooms and the grounds. There’s always a path that needs clearing or a window that needs a wash. We get people coming up here to see the view or just to get away for a couple of days. We keep things pretty simple. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we know the hills well. We don't have those fancy automated systems for everything; we do a lot of things by hand. Whether it's carrying bags or checking the water heaters, it’s all part of the daily grind. The evenings get chilly, so we’re usually busy making sure things are closed up tight. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the holiday crowds arrive. We just try to keep the place tidy and the guests comfortable. It’s an old estate, so it has its quirks, but we just work with them. It’s just us up here on the hill, keeping the resort running day by day. We take it one season at a time and just keep the doors open for whoever shows up.
