Sarkar Restaurant Cum Bar

Being situated right on NH 31 C in Bagdogra means we see a lot of different people just passing through on their way somewhere else. Our restaurant and bar is a common stop for travelers who are headed toward Siliguri or going up into the hills. It is a big, dusty highway and the heavy trucks never seem to stop rolling by. We have a basic concrete building that is easy enough to spot from the road. Inside, it is mostly just rows of simple tables and a bar counter that has definitely seen better days. We do not put on any acts or pretend to be fancy here. You can get a cold drink and a hot plate of food, which is what most people are looking for. The kitchen is usually noisy with the sound of metal pans hitting the burners and the exhaust fan humming. Because we are near the airport and the main highway, we get all sorts of people walking through the door. Some are in a big hurry to leave and some stay for a few hours to rest. We have to deal with the heavy monsoon rains that often turn the front parking area into a bit of a muddy mess. The staff all live nearby, so we operate like a small family. We just rely on the fact that people get hungry when they drive. (254 words)
