Rangamatia Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Rajapur in the Pukhuria area. The name "Rangamatia" fits because of the red soil we have around here. It’s a bit of a trek to get to our village, but we like the peace and quiet. We are a group of farmers who decided that working together was better than trying to do everything alone. You won't find any corporate suits here. Most of the time, we are wearing old shirts and sandals, and our hands are usually stained from the dirt. We spend a lot of time talking about the weather, as that's what really runs our lives. If the monsoon is late, everyone gets a bit worried. We use the small office in Rajapur to keep our records, though the ledger books are getting a bit worn out now. It’s not a big operation with hundreds of employees. It’s just us and our neighbors trying to make a living from what we grow. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. We plant, we water, and we harvest. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves with whatever we have on hand. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn until the sun goes down. We are just trying to do right by the land and the people living in this part of Pukhuria. It's not easy, but we keep going one day at a time.
