Theni Maruthi Biriyani & Grill

We've been here at the HP Galleria Complex on Thadagam Road for a while now. If you are looking for us, we are right opposite the Vinayagar Temple in Velandipalayam. It gets pretty busy around here, especially during lunch hours when people are out and about. We started Theni Maruthi Biriyani & Grill because we just wanted to cook the kind of food we like eating ourselves. There isn't anything fancy about how we do things. We just fire up the grill and get the biriyani going early in the morning. Some days it is louder than others with the traffic from the main road, but that’s just how Coimbatore is. We spend most of our time in the kitchen making sure the meat is tender and the spices are right. It’s a lot of work standing over the stoves, but we are used to it by now. People usually find us when they are passing through Velandipalayam or after they visit the temple across the street. We don’t have a massive team, just a few of us making sure everything stays clean and the food goes out hot. We didn't really plan on being some big destination, we just wanted a spot where the locals could get a decent meal without a fuss. It’s simple, honest work and we plan on keeping it that way for as long as people keep showing up to eat with us.
