A One Madurai mess

We are A One Madurai mess and you can find us at 192 Uppara street in the Town Hall area of Coimbatore. We are situated right near the aroma bakery which is a big landmark around here. If you know Town Hall then you know how busy it gets with all the shoppers and workers. We serve the kind of food you'd expect from a Madurai style mess. It's mostly about the flavors we grew up with back home. The place is quite small and the seating is just basic tables and benches. We don't have air conditioning or fancy napkins, it's just a place to eat and get on with your day. The kitchen is right there and you can hear the pots clanking all day long. My brothers and I run the show and we have a couple of guys helping us with the serving. During lunch time it's hard to find a seat because everyone from the nearby shops comes in at once. We don't really have a printed menu that stays the same, we just tell people what we cooked that morning. The street outside is narrow and sometimes the smell of the spices drifts out and brings people in. It’s been our life for a while now. We just want to serve decent food without any fuss. It’s a simple mess for local people. We start our prep work very early in the morning so everything is ready by eleven. It's a lot of work but we enjoy it.
