Swadhishta Restaurant

Nehru Street is always moving. Swadhishta Restaurant sits right in the middle of it in Ram Nagar, not too far from the Coimbatore bus stand. If you walk down from the terminal, you’ll find us easily enough at number 340. We opened up here because it seemed like a good spot where people are always passing through. The mornings are usually the busiest when everyone is trying to get breakfast before their bus leaves. We try to keep up with the orders, but sometimes things take a little longer when the stove is full. It’s a small team here. My cousin helps out with the seating and I usually stay near the front. The paint on the walls is getting a bit old, but it doesn't bother the regulars much. They just want their food and a place to sit for twenty minutes. We don’t do anything fancy with the menu. It’s just the usual stuff people around Coimbatore like to eat daily. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we have to shout a bit to hear the orders. That’s just how it is in Ram Nagar. We’ve had the same vegetable supplier for a long time, and he drops things off right at the door every morning. It's a lot of work running a kitchen in such a busy area, but we've gotten used to the pace over the years. We just keep the doors open and do what we can with what we have.
