Sri Amuthaa Surabi

Our place, Sri Amuthaa Surabi, is at No 281 on Thadagam Road in Coimbatore. We are situated right opposite the Abila Convent in Velandipalayam. It’s a busy area and we have been operating here for several years. We open up early to start the preparations for the day. The kitchen is always the busiest part of the building. We have a small team of cooks who know the recipes well. It’s a simple setup with basic tables and chairs. We don't go in for any modern decor or anything like that. Most of our customers are people living nearby or parents who are coming to the convent. We serve the usual dishes that people eat every day. The coffee machine is always running. Sometimes the road outside gets very noisy with all the traffic, but inside we just focus on the work. We get our supplies from the local vendors we’ve known for years. My brother helps me with the daily accounts and keeping track of the stock. We don't have any big marketing plans. People just come in because they know the food is consistent. The ceiling fans keep the place cool enough even in the Coimbatore heat. It’s a modest business and we like it that way. We just aim to provide a decent meal to whoever walks through the door.
