At Munukulaa Jewel Exports, we operate out of 214-B, Siddhi Vinayagar, right on Kovil Street. It’s a lively neighborhood with the temple nearby, so there’s always something going on outside. Inside, we spend our time working on jewelry pieces that eventually head out for export. It’s meticulous work, often done under small lamps with various tools scattered across the benches. We aren’t a big corporation; it’s more of a focused group of people doing specific tasks. Some days are quieter than others, depending on how many orders we’re trying to finish. The street can be narrow, making it a bit tricky for deliveries, but we manage. We’ve stayed in this spot because it feels right for the kind of work we do. There’s a lot of history in these streets, and we like being part of it. We don't have a retail counter where people browse; it's more about the production side of things. You might see us checking stones or weighing metal throughout the afternoon. It’s not always glamorous, despite what people think about jewelry. There’s a lot of cleaning and polishing involved. Everyone here knows their role. We’ve got our routine down, from the morning tea to the final packing at the end of the day. It’s just how we run things here on Kovil Street. We don't use fancy computers for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand. It's a bit slower that way, but we prefer the manual process.
