Mamu Biryani Family Restaurant

Saibaba Colony is a busy part of Coimbatore. We are over on Raja Annamalai Road. If you know where Loom World is, you can find us easily. We are right in Nesavaralar Colony. The restaurant is usually full of families. Kids running around the tables while the parents try to eat. It gets pretty loud in here. We have these big ceiling fans that try to keep the air moving, but it stays warm. The biryani is cooked in huge vats in the back. You can hear the spoons scraping the bottom of the pots all day long. We use a lot of local spices. Nothing is weighed out perfectly, we just go by how it looks and smells. The staff is like a family. We eat together before the lunch rush starts. Some days are so busy we don't have time to sit down. The floor is tiled and easy to clean, which is good because things spill all the time. We don't spend money on fancy decorations. Just some simple paint and good lights. People come for the food, not the chairs. We’ve been here in 641011 for a good while now. The neighbors are nice. We see the same people every Sunday afternoon. By the time we close, the streets of Coimbatore are still buzzing. We just pull down the metal shutters and start prepping for the next day. It’s a lot of hard work but we really like it.
