Kangayam Carbons

You’ll find Kangayam Carbons in the Mahalakshmi Apartment on College Road. It’s an interesting spot for a business like ours, being in an apartment building, but it works out for what we do. We deal with carbon, which can be a bit of a messy business if you aren't careful about how you handle it. We try to keep things as clean as possible, but there’s always a bit of dust around the corners. College Road is usually full of students and people rushing about, so there’s a lot of energy outside our doors. Inside, we keep things simple. We have our records, our samples, and the phones that never seem to stop ringing. We spend a lot of time talking to suppliers and trying to figure out the best way to get things moved. It’s not the kind of job that looks glamorous on the outside. Most days we are just wearing old shirts and drinking lukewarm coffee while we look at spreadsheets. We don’t have any big mission statements or glossy brochures. If someone wants to know what we do, we just show them the product and tell them the price. It’s straightforward. Some days the elevator in the building is slow, so we end up taking the stairs. It’s just part of being here. We’ve got a good routine going now, and we’re happy to just keep doing what we know and handling the daily chores that come up.
