Down here at 1295 Mettupalayam Road, things are always moving and shaking. Apex Roller Flour Mills is a place where you can definitely feel the vibration of the machines through the floorboards. It’s a long road and we’re right in the thick of it with all the other industrial spots. The air usually has a bit of a dusty smell to it, which is just part of the job when you’re dealing with grain and flour all day long. We spend a lot of time watching the rollers and making sure nothing gets jammed up in the middle of a run. It’s loud, so we have to speak up or use hand signals when we’re talking to each other near the equipment. The office part is a bit quieter, but not by much. We’ve got trucks pulling in and out of the yard at all hours, so there’s always someone shouting directions or checking a manifest. It’s not a clean-suit kind of environment; you’re going to get some flour on your shoes or your shirt if you walk through the mill. We’ve been at this for a long time, and the routine hasn't changed much over the years. You wake up, get the machines running, and keep an eye on the output. It’s physical work and it can be tiring when the heat picks up in the middle of the day. But we just keep going until the shift is done. It’s just a regular mill on a busy road.
