Chinnadurai Rice Mundy

At Chinnadurai Rice Mundy, we spend our days surrounded by rice. We are over at 125, Ayya Samy Koil Street. The shop is filled with different varieties of grain, and you can smell it the moment you walk through the door. It’s a familiar scent that I’ve grown up with. We deal with a lot of local folks and some people from further out who know we carry what they need. Ayya Samy Koil Street is a nice spot, though it gets quite cramped when we are unloading a fresh shipment. We don't have any big marketing plans or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the customers to come in. Most of our time is spent weighing out portions or stacking bags so we can fit more in. It’s physical work, and by the end of the day, we are usually pretty tired. We have a small crew, mostly family and a few neighbors who help out. We’ve kept the business simple because that’s what we know. We don't try to be anything we aren't. If you want rice, we have it, and we will give you a fair price without any nonsense. The building is a bit old, and the floor is worn down from all the years of walking back and forth, but it’s home to us. We just keep doing our thing, day in and day out.
