You can find us over on Main Road at 21-1-60/61. The building is pretty old but it serves our purpose for making synthetic gems. Inside, there is always the sound of the machines running. It gets quite warm in the back where the manufacturing happens. We spend a lot of time looking at very small things under bright lights. It’s a bit hard on the eyes after a few hours, but we take breaks. Most of us have been working here for years. We know the machines better than we know our own cars. Sometimes a customer will walk in from the street thinking we sell finished jewelry, and we have to explain we mostly make the stones themselves. The traffic on Main Road is always humming in the background. We usually have the radio playing low to keep us company while we work. The floor is covered in fine dust from the cutting process, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of the gem business. We aren't a big flashy company with a huge lobby. We are just here doing the work, making sure the stones are cut correctly. It’s a practical place with people who just want to get their tasks done before the sun goes down. There’s a tea shop next door that we visit often when the heat gets to be too much. It helps pass the time.
