D. K. R. Jewellery

Our shop, D. K. R. Jewellery, is located at 109, Raja Street. It’s a solid old building and we’ve been here long enough to see the street change quite a bit. Raja Street is always busy, so there is never a dull moment. We spend our time working with different types of jewelry, mostly the kind people wear for weddings or give as gifts. It’s a lot of manual work, checking links and making sure stones are set properly. We aren't a big chain, just a local spot where you can come in and talk to the person actually doing the work. Sometimes we are buried in repairs, and other days we are just cleaning the glass cases to make sure everything looks decent. The lighting in the shop is something we are always messing with because it never seems quite right. We don’t use any high-tech systems; we still write a lot of things down in our ledger books. It’s just the way we prefer to do it. Customers like that they can see us working right there. We don't have a big sales pitch. If someone likes a piece, they buy it, and if not, they move on. It’s a straightforward way to run a business. We like being part of the Raja Street community and knowing the other shop owners nearby.
