Coimbatore Institute of Engineering & Information Technology is tucked away in Narasipuram, near Thondamuthur. It’s a pretty scenic area with the hills in the background. If you’re coming from Coimbatore city, it’s a bit of a trek, but the air is much cleaner out here. I usually take the bus, and you see a lot of greenery on the way. The college itself is a collection of several concrete buildings. We have a lot of labs for the information technology side of things, so there are wires and computers everywhere. The engineering side has more of the heavy machinery and tools. It’s a quiet place mostly, except when the bell rings for lunch. Then the hallways get crowded with students heading to the canteen. We serve basic South Indian food there, which is what most of us eat every day. The staff here are quite grounded. We aren't really into big corporate displays. We just have our classrooms and our schedules. Sometimes the internet is slow, or a machine breaks down, and we just fix it and keep going. Narasipuram is a small place, so the college is a big part of the local landscape. You see the students at the local shops buying snacks or pens. It feels very much like a part of the village. We just do our work, teach the classes, and go home when the sun starts to set over the hills. It is a very simple and practical environment for everyone.
