You can find us at number 171 on Rangai Gowder Street. It’s a narrow street, typical for this part of town, and it’s always filled with the sound of carts and people talking. We deal in textiles, so our space is usually filled with rolls of cloth and different fabrics. It’s a bit crowded inside, but we know where everything is. My family has been doing this for a long time. We aren’t trying to be some high-end fashion boutique; we just provide the material that people need. Every morning we pull up the gates and sweep the front step. The dust from the street always finds its way in, no matter how much we clean. We spend most of the day measuring out lengths of fabric or talking to the traders who stop by. The light in the back of the shop is a bit dim, so we usually bring the cloth to the front to show the true colors. It’s a simple life, really. We see the same faces every week and have our tea from the stall just down the road. There’s no need for fancy titles here. If you need some textile work or just want to see what’s in stock, we’re usually here until late evening. It’s just us, the fabric, and the busy street outside our door. It gets a bit noisy, but we are used to it.
