We are located right across from the V.K.R. Kalyana Mandabam in Kumar Nagar. It’s 2-C/2, in the Villankurichi area. If there’s a wedding happening across the street, it gets pretty loud and crowded with cars, but otherwise, it’s a fairly quiet spot. We work with solar panels and everything that goes with them. Our shop floor is usually a bit of a mess with cables and mounting brackets. We try to keep it organized, but when we’re busy, stuff piles up. Most of us grew up around here. We know how hot the sun gets, so solar stuff makes sense to us. It’s a hands-on kind of job. We spend a lot of time on ladders or crouching on roofs. Back at the office, we mostly just handle the paperwork and talk to folks who walk in. There’s no fancy air conditioning in the back, just a couple of ceiling fans that work overtime. We keep a stash of biscuits for tea time. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us making sure the panels are installed right and the batteries are charging. We don't use big words to explain how things work. If it generates power, it's doing its job. That’s about as simple as it gets for us. Sometimes customers bring us their old batteries to see if we can squeeze a bit more life out of them. We’re honest about it; if it’s dead, it’s dead. We’ve seen many changes in the solar business, but the basic stuff stays the same. The sun comes up, and we make sure people use it.
