Senthil Store

This shop has been at 69 Ponappa Street in Purasaiwakkam for a long time. Senthil Store is just one of those local places where the door stays open most of the day to catch a bit of a breeze. It’s a busy street, so there’s always someone walking past or a scooter trying to squeeze through the traffic. We keep things pretty simple here. Most of the time is spent rearranging the shelves or talking to the regulars who have been coming to us for years. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get around to it. It’s a bit cramped inside with all the stock we try to fit in, but we know exactly where everything is kept. Even if it looks a bit messy to someone walking in for the first time, there is a system to it all. I usually sit near the front to keep an eye on things while my nephew helps with the heavy bags. We don't use computers for everything because the old ledgers still work just fine for us. It’s a lot of work staying on top of what people need, but it keeps us busy. When the rain starts, we have to move some of the stuff back from the entrance so it doesn't get damp. It’s just a normal day at the store on Ponappa Street.
