Sri Swaminathan Stores

Sri Swaminathan Stores is located at what used to be Old No. 156 but is now New No. 123 on Rasappa Chetty St. We are right opposite the Kandasamy Temple, so we hear the temple bells throughout the day. It is a very old and busy street, and our shop has been part of it for a long time. The space is pretty packed with stock, from the floor all the way up to the ceiling. You have to be careful where you step sometimes. We don't have fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just shelves and shelves of goods. Most of our day is spent helping people who walk in looking for something specific. Since we are right across from the temple, we get a lot of people passing by. The shop can get quite warm in the summer, but we have a couple of fans going to keep the air moving. It’s a family-run kind of vibe here. We know most of the other shopkeepers on the street, and we often chat with them during the slow hours. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Most people just know we are here because of the temple landmark. It is a traditional way of doing business, and we haven't seen a reason to change it. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait to see who comes through the door. The street noise is constant but it is what makes this place feel alive.
