We are located at number 155 on Melpatti Ponnappa Street which is right in the heart of Vyasarpadi. This street is always moving with people and vehicles so there is never a dull moment outside our door. We deal with a lot of different goods and our stock changes depending on what is coming in that week. You’ll see us moving heavy boxes and unloading stuff from the back of lorries quite often. The shop space is packed from floor to ceiling because we try to keep as much as possible on hand for the locals. It can be a bit dusty and the air is thick with the sounds of the neighborhood. We know most of the people who walk past every day and we often stop to have a quick chat while we are working. Managing the inventory is a big task and sometimes we lose track of where a specific item was put. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that. It’s just a practical place for people to get what they need. We’ve stayed in this same spot for a long time and the building has its quirks like the squeaky front gate. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot and we stay until the street finally starts to quiet down in the evening. It’s a basic life of buying and selling things but it works for us and the people around Vyasarpadi.
