I run my work out of No.1, Jhani Jhan Kahn Road, right near the first lane. This part of Royapettah is always buzzing because Meershapet Market is so close by. You can hear the sounds of the vendors and the shoppers all through the day. As Razia Beautician, I mostly handle things like eyebrow threading, basic facials, and hair care for the women around here. It’s a small space, nothing like those big malls you see nowadays. I prefer it this way because I can actually talk to my customers and know what they need. Some ladies have been coming to me since I first opened my doors. I try to keep everything organized, but when it’s busy, things can get a bit hectic. Chennai heat is no joke, so I try to make the space as cool as possible for whoever is sitting in my chair. Being near the market means I get a lot of walk-ins who are just passing through after buying their groceries. I don’t use any fancy machines, just my hands and the products I’ve used for years. It’s a simple life, working in Royapettah. I like the familiar faces and the daily routine of opening up the shop. If you find yourself near Jhani Jhan 1st Lane, you’ll see where I am.
