Nilas Beauty Cafe

You can find Nilas Beauty Cafe at No 31/A on Abirami Avenue 14th Street. We are right across from the Mother Therasa Kalyana Mandapam in Kannadasan Nagar. It’s a good spot because there are always people around for functions and weddings. I call it a Beauty Cafe, but it’s really just a salon. I thought the name sounded a bit different when I started. I’ve been doing beauty work for a long time in Chennai. The shop is small and simple. We do hair, some makeup for weddings, and the usual skin stuff. It gets very busy when there's a big event at the mandapam across the street. People run over to get their hair fixed or some last-minute help with their saree or makeup. I try to keep up with everyone, but sometimes it’s just me working. I don’t have a big corporate office or a manager. It’s just me and my tools. I like meeting the different people who walk through the door. Everyone has a story to tell while they sit in the chair. The street can be a bit narrow, so parking is sometimes tricky for cars, but people find a way. We just keep doing our work, day in and day out. If you’re in the neighborhood and need a quick tidy up or a face pack, just look for the sign opposite the hall. We try to keep the fans running high so it stays cool inside.
