New Annalakshmi Beuty Parlour

George Town is always so busy and crowded, especially around Portugese Church Street. Our shop, New Annalakshmi Beuty Parlour, is at 137/2. It’s right near the ration shop, which means there are always people standing around outside waiting for their supplies. We see the whole neighborhood pass by every single day. The morning starts with a lot of noise from the street vendors and the sounds of heavy carts. We open up the shutters and start tidying the place. The mirrors need a good wipe down because of all the dust. It’s a small space, but we manage. There are a few chairs and some basic supplies on the shelves. Sometimes it gets a bit tight when more than three people show up at once. The light isn't the best in the back, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We mostly talk about the prices of things or the local news while we work. People drop in after finishing their work at the market or the church. It’s not a place for anything high-end, just a local spot for a quick hair wash or a cut. We use simple towels and regular products you find in any house. The floor is tiled but some are cracked near the entrance. It doesn’t bother anyone really. We just keep doing our thing every day until the sun goes down and the street finally gets a bit quieter. We hope to stay here for many more years.
