Naveena Beauty Parlour

Our parlour is situated at No 159/79, Doctor Natesan Street in the Triplicane area of Chennai. We are directly opposite Citi Centre, so there is always a lot of foot traffic and cars passing by. Triplicane is an old part of the city, and our building has that classic feel to it. The stairs leading up are a bit narrow, but once you are inside, it feels quite open. We have painted the walls a soft yellow, though it is starting to peel a bit near the window where the rain hits. I spend most of my day standing by the chairs. We have some jars of cream and various combs lined up on the shelf. The lighting is just regular tube lights that flicker sometimes when the power fluctuates. I keep a few old magazines on the table for people to look at while they wait, though most people just look at their phones now. It can get quite loud with the honking from the street outside, but we just talk over it. Most of the women who come here have been visiting us for years. They know exactly where to sit. It’s not a polished corporate place at all. It’s just a neighborhood shop where we do our best with what we have. When the sun goes down, the street lights outside make the whole room look different.
