Grand Orient

The Grand Orient is located at 693 Mount Road, right in the Thousand Lights area of Chennai. It’s an incredibly busy part of the city, with buses and cars zooming by at all hours. The building itself has been here for a long time, and you can see that in the architecture. It has that solid, older look that you don't see in new constructions. We have a lot of rooms spread out over several floors. The interior is a bit plain, but we try to keep it looking decent for whoever walks through the door. Because it's Chennai, the heat is something we deal with every single day. We make sure the fans and the cooling systems are running as much as possible. Our staff is mostly local people who have worked here for years. We know the shortcuts around the neighborhood and where the best tea stalls are. The lobby is a place where people often sit to escape the sun for a bit. We don’t have a lot of modern gadgets or fancy technology. We mostly use paper logs and old-fashioned keys. It’s a practical place for someone who needs to be in the center of the city without spending too much. The walls are thick, but you can still hear the city pulse if you listen closely. We just keep doing our thing, making sure the rooms are ready and the guests are sorted out.
